Becoming a member of SPPHA_ACT
The Standardbred Pleasure & Performance Horse Association of The Australian Capital Territory offers encouragement and support to owners of Standardbred and part bred Standardbred horses.
SPPHA_ACT also provides assistance to persons interested in owning a Standardbred and puts them in contact with Trainers that have horses available when their career in racing has ended or the Standardbred didn't make the grade.
Objectives of the Association
· To promote the Standardbred as a breed of horse suited to all equestrian disciplines.
· To raise the profile of the Standardbred by informing the public of the good nature, temperament and versitility of the breed.
· To continue to provide fair and equal competition for the Standardbred in all aspects of equestrian events.
· To support and provide assistance in pleasure and performance training of the Standardbred to ensure the Standardbred is seen as an all round competition horse in equestrian endeavours.
· To provide a vehicle for owners and riders of the Standardbred to meet and/or communicate.
SPPHA_ACT offers a wide range of benefits to its members
- Rally Days per year to provides training advise for members and their horses, introduce members to new skills and support and encourage members in training their Standardbred.
- Social Trail Rides per year held in the ACT and surrounding areas and planned to give members a great social day with their horses with plenty of support along the way.
- Quarterly Newsletter the "Trantering Times" to keep members up to date with show dates, training tips and other news.
- Monthly Website updates to showcase our wonderful Standies and their owners, provide useful links, reports and results.
- Special Training Days as requested by the members.
- Horse Placement Program to help connect members wanting to obtain a Standardbred with local trainers with available horses. Please understand that SPPHA_ACT provides its members with the details but does not take any part in the arrangement after this.
- AGM Dinner and awards night that recognises the achievements of Standardbreds in the show ring, performance fields and pleasure riding.
