NCHTA Eventer Trial
The eventer trial was a great day and well worth having a go (if you are interested in eventing, eventer trials are fun but you must be comfortable with jumping as the smallest height is 60cm). The way an Eventer Trial is run, is firstly you do your Showjumping course followed immediately by a time trial and finally do your Cross Country course. Cass and Balavan competed in both the 60cm and 80cm. Balavan took it all in his stride and completed both heights with ease. It was nice to see Balavan not faulter or stop at any jumps (unlike some other breeds). Cass and Balavan are having a ball out in the eventing world.
Eventer Trials are held all over NSW and ACT. Contact NSW Eventing for where they are being held. Harden is also another close and great place to attend an Eventer Trial.

Beckford Chicken Run
The weather started out cold and wet, but eventually turned out to be a good day. We had 3 SPPHA entries on the day and it was wonderful to see the Standies out having a ball. Balavan, Oliver and Blue all went clear rounds and the girls had a lot of fun. As I have no photos of the day, I have kindly borrowed the snap shots from Nicole of "All Creatures Photography" who does a wonderful job (the C in the centre is a copyright symbol).

Official NSW One Day Eventing Competition- Harden 5&6 August 06
Well the weather was perfect for the weekend (but bloody cold at night). Cass and Balavan competed in the Introductory Class and did the Standardbreds proud.
Day 1. Dressage was the first event and Balavan did extremely well considering he has never done a dressage test before (those white letter markers can jump out at you - just in case you didn't know). He paced once but kept it pretty well together. Showjumping was the next event and despite being wobblely approaching a couple of the jumps he managed to knock only a couple of rails (he jumped the scary wall with ease which had some horses really worried).

Day2. Cross country was Cass and Balavan outstanding leg of the weekend. Balavan did a clear round and negotiated the waterjumps without batting an eyelid. They came in just over time at 6 minutes 20 seconds - optimum time was 6 minutes 15 seconds. Cass and Balavan placed in the middle of a field.
